  • Jay – Fri thru Sun 3/22-24

Well, I finally hit one. Years of planning trips ahead and showing up to find only ice or rain. We finally got some payback. I had booked a couple of days in a ski in/out condo at Jay a couple of weeks ago to spend some time with my oldest son skiing while he was off from school. We got…

  • Bretton 3-24-19

I headed up to Bretton Woods on Sunday to catch the leftovers from Saturday's storm. I've been sidelined for the past month with some tendonitis (my left hip flexors have been lodging a formal complaint about all the glade skiing I've done this season), but with ski season winding down, I had to get out there. Coverage is fantastic right…

  • WST: 3/30-31 The end is near? Or is it just the beginning?

Well, that was a fun weekending. From the Catskills to N.vt, sounds like everyone got the goods. Killer day at Belleayre for me Saturday. But what does next weekend hold? Forecasts for the Cats aren't great. What about N.Vt? There is certainly good base up there - will this weekend be the kick off of corn season? Squeeze one more…

  • Forerunner: The Most Righteous Shop on the Planet

This kinda post probably doesn't usually deserve it's own thread, but whatever. I bought a pair of skis from the Forerunner Shop in Killington, VT. Now, I have bought a number of things in my time, but this was easily, without a doubt, bar none, the best experience exchanging currency for material goods I've ever had. I know that sounds…

  • Jackson Hole

Trying to gather information before I go for the first time. Will be there on the weekend so any tips for uncrowded lifts would be appreciated. Is Corbets doable right now for someone who doesn't prefer launching 20 feet in the air followed by a sudden turn? Staying in town so any food tips would also be great.

  • Killington 3/24/19

Quick hitter today...was going to go up early and get back but ended up being lazy and meandering around the house so left late and got there around 12:45. With a small amount of time, I kind of jumped around everywhere but got a good 3.5 hours in. Parked at Skyeship and first run was Skyelark plus the woods between…

  • Cannon, 3/24

Cannon was pretty great today. Lots of sun and snow (obviously), everything open. The only icy bits were at a few of the busiest intersections (like Link) and Hardscrabble, which was ice and bumps. Front five were all bumping up with soft moguls. Didn't get over to Mittersill as there were races. Unbelievable for late March to be sure. If…

  • HIKING: Trailhead Steward Training: Preventative Search &Rescue (PSAR) April 6, 2019

Looking a few good passionate hikers willing to devote a few hours each week to prevent unnecessary search and rescue missions. Trailhead hiker intervention has proven to increase hiker preparedness. It is reducing Search and Rescue missions and won a regional US Forest Service award as an innovative and effective volunteer program last season. The White Mountain National Forest Trailhead…
