West Dover, Vt. (October 7, 2013) – Tough Mudder and Mount Snow Resort announced that the global endurance event leader will return to the southern Vermont resort for the fourth straight year in 2014, with the two-day event scheduled to occur Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1. Mount Snow is one of the longest running venues on Tough Mudder’s schedule, which will feature more than 75 events in at least 13 countries in 2014.
This will be the fifth Tough Mudder event to occur at Mount Snow – the resort hosted two events over the summer of 2012 – with each of the four previous events serving as an economic boon to the local area with lodging sold out for miles and restaurants busy catering to the thousands of people that come to participate or spectate. Officials anticipate the 2014 event to be equally as popular with both the resort and local businesses reveling in the opportunity to host such a large group of people during what is traditionally a need period for the resort town.
“We’re thrilled to not only have Tough Mudder back, but to have the event return to the springtime, which is our shoulder season and business is typically slower,” said Mount Snow General Manager, Kelly Pawlak. “It is always a great event and attracts great people who we hope enjoy the Mount Snow Valley and return for a visit with their families in the future.”
The Tough Mudder course traditionally takes participants on a 10 mile jaunt up and down Mount Snow; obstacles set throughout the course feature mud, water, electric shocks, barbed wire and other challenges. When participants complete the course, they are awarded a trademark orange headband and a cold beer before enjoying the post-party in Mount Snow’s Main Base Area.
