EAST BURKE, Vermont ??” Yesterday at Burke Mountain, the ski area hosted a free ski day for spouses and children of those deployed overseas in the armed services. The day started out with a free pancake breakfast, followed by a full day of skiing and riding at the ski area.
Dick Andross, general manager at Burke Mountain put it this way, “It felt good to give a little something to some folks who are sacrificing a great deal every day.” Staff sergeant Dick Ball of the Lyndonville Armory spoke on behalf of families, “A lot of the folks who participated don’t really know how to put into words how grateful they are for the outpouring of support they get from the community; like what Burke Mountain did for them. I know it meant a great deal to them.”
The event, held in conjunction with Burke’s annual Season Passholder Appreciation Weekend, served over 170 pancake breakfasts.
