camelback trailTannersville, Pa. (November 14th, 2014) – Snowmaking has begun for the 51st season of Camelback Resort, a favorite Pocono Mountain four-season resort that caters to hundreds of thousands of skiers and snowboarders each winter and over 1,000,000 guests annually. The long-range forecast is favorable for a planned opening on Black Friday, November 28th, 2014.

Camelback comes off an award winning 2013/14 winter season, where the mountain’s snowsports school was presented the esteemed Conversion Cup by the National Ski Area Association (NSAA). This honorary award is given to one resort nationwide that provides outstanding learn-to ski/snowboard programs and their effort to convert skiers and snowboarders into life-long enthusiasts. Backing the claim, a November 2013 Huffington Post article touted Camelback Resort as the #1 place to learn to ski and snowboard in the country.

As the snow changes the landscape of the resort so does the addition of the new Camelback Lodge and Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark, the largest indoor waterpark in the northeast. The $163 million dollar, 453 suite hotel will debut in March 2015 and include a highly-themed 125,000 square foot indoor adventure waterpark packed with 13 of the most innovative slides ever developed including the world premiere of Venus SlydeTrap and Storm Chaser, the longest uphill watercoaster in the U.S.A.

“As exciting as the first 50 years were for Camelback Resort, there isn’t anything more exciting than what’s to come,” said Ken Ellis, co-owner of Camelback Resort. “With the early season snowmaking temperatures and the excitement building around the opening of the hotel and indoor waterpark, this gives me and my partner the validation we need to prove all the hard work pays off. Seeing guests smile while having fun here…well, there’s just nothing better”.
