Fall Festival Season Starts at Sunday River Resort

Vacation packages, activities, and events designed with a fall theme in mind

Newry, Maine (September 3, 2012)—For leaf peepers seeking a room and ride with colorful views, Sunday River Resort, located in the Western Mountains of Maine, offers both with its Fall Foliage vacation package.

Priced at $155, the Fall Foliage Package includes lodging at one of Sunday River’s two Grand Resort Hotels, breakfast, and a scenic lift ride for two people.

Sunday River operates scenic lift rides Fridays through Sundays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. using its part chairlift, part gondola, “Chondola” lift. Scenic lift rides take guests up through gem-colored maple trees to the top of Sunday River’s North Peak where spanning views of the Mahoosuc Mountain Range await.

Other activities available during this time include mountain biking, zipline tours, hiking, and new this year, disc golf. The award-winning Sunday River Golf Club is also open seven days a week with great views of fall foliage at every tee.

In addition to grand sights and activities, celebrations such as Bethel’s Harvest Festival on September 15, bring in area chefs competing for such seasonal delicacies as best pie and best chowder, while Sunday River’s annual Fall Festival Weekend on October 6 and 7, takes a more competitive approach with the 13th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship and Mountain RAID races, followed by days filled with food and live music.
