HUNTER, New York — In light of the difficult economic conditions, cold winter months, and growing need for food donations, Hunter Mountain has organized the Exceed The Need resort-wide food drive to take place on Saturday, February 28th, 2009. Skiers, snowboarders and visitors alike who donate three (3) non-perishable food items will be rewarded for their generosity with a $20 lift ticket discount voucher valid from March 1st through the end of the 2008/09 season.
The Exceed the Need food drive aims to stock the mountaintop food pantries, aiding local and area residents. Among accepted items are canned fruits, vegetables and beans; canned soups; canned meat; apple sauce; peanut butter and/or fruit preserves; juices and cooking oils. Many other foods can be donated. The food drive will be in cooperation with a variety of local businesses and organizations.
“Being one of the largest employers in Greene County, we at Hunter Mountain feel we not only have a distinct responsibility, but also an opportunity, to give back to our local communities,” says Russ Coloton, President of Hunter Mountain. “We have hundreds of thousands of people visiting this area each winter, and it is important to remind everyone that there are some who are less fortunate especially with the current economic strains.
