Jazz Ensemble to Play at Sugarbush Resort this Saturday
WARREN, Vermont — The Terri Lyne Carrington Berklee Jazz Ensemble will play at Sugarbush Resort this Saturday in Timbers Restaurant. The ensemble, composed of eight Berklee College of Music students, is part of one of the most sought after ensemble classes at the elite music college. Situated in the heart of Boston, Berklee is the world’s largest independent music college and the premier institution for the study of contemporary music. Past graduates include such musicians as Melissa Etheridge; Steely Dan leader Donald Fagen; guitarist and Tonight Show bandleader Kevin Eubanks; and jazz saxophonist/composer Branford Marsalis.
The ensemble will play two sets of “New York Jazz” between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m . in Timbers, located in the Resort’s Lincoln Peak Village. Terri Lyne Carrington, who has been a professor in the Berklee percussion department since 2005, heads the group and spent more than 20 years touring and recording with legends in the jazz world. Considered a child prodigy, Carrington grew up jamming with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie and Oscar Peterson. She later went on to be the drummer for the Arsenio Hall Show and spent years touring with Herbie Hancock and Al Jarreau. This weekend’s performance is the first in a series.
