KILLINGTON, Vermont — Killington Resort and Pico Mountain are partnering with more than 36 resorts across the country in donating $1 from every lift ticket sold on February 9th to the U.S. Ski Team as part of U.S. Ski Team Day 2007.

In addition Killington will open the K-1 Gondola for “First Tracks” at 8 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 to everyone who makes a $10 donation (cash or check payable to the U.S. Ski team) to the U.S. Ski Team and has a valid lift ticket for the day or season pass. The K-1 Gondola opens to the public at 9 a.m. “First Tracks” participants will also have an opportunity to meet 1992 Olympic Gold Medalist Donna Weinbrecht, who will display the gold medal she won in Albertville, France as the first-ever women’s Olympic mogul champion. “First Tracks” participants will also receive a commemorative Killington pin.

“We are very excited to once again participate in U.S. Ski Team Day. It is a great way to show our support for the many Vermont athletes and those with ties to the Killington Region who are now members of the U.S. Ski Team,” said Dave Rathbun, vice president of brand management for Killington Resort.

More than 55,000 skiers participated at resorts nationwide in 2006, the event’s inaugural year and Killington and Pico Mountain donated more than $2,900 to the U.S. Ski Team. With more than 145 trails open and on-going snowmaking efforts, guests who visit Killington and Pico Mountain on U.S. Ski Team Day will enjoy some of the finest skiing and riding conditions so far this season.

In 2006, U.S. Ski Team Day was also a way for fans to celebrate the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympic Games in Torino, Italy, in which American skiers won three medals. This season, U.S. Ski Team Day organizers hope to energize support for American athletes competing in the Alpine World Championships in Are, Sweden, which begins on the same day as the event.
