KILLINGTON, Vermont ??” Regardless of skill level or handicap, the breathtaking panoramas, gentle mountain breezes and all 18 holes of the Killington Golf Resort combine to offer a refreshing round for any golfer. The championship course is scheduled to open for the season May 5 and will remain open through peak foliage season during October. The Mountain Golf School at Killington will open May 31.

Renowned golf course architect Geoffrey Cornish developed Killington’s 18 holes to test players of all abilities. The mountainous terrain of the par-72 course challenges even the most polished of players, while allowing novices to enjoy a unique course in a beautiful alpine setting. Indeed, the cool summer breezes at 2,000-foot altitude produce optimal playing temperatures and ensure a spectacular round that demands a return.

Killington’s 6,168-yard course features generous greens, tree-lined fairways and the Roaring Brook that comes into play on eight holes. Additionally, three more holes feature water hazards, while challenging bunkers surround 15 of the 18 greens. Three par-5s are showcased on the front nine, including the 510-yard 2nd hole, the longest on the course.

The golf training facility at Killington is available to fine tune every aspect of the game, featuring a 12,000-square foot practice putting green, 18-station driving range, pitching and chipping areas and practice sand bunkers.

In addition, the Killington Region features 15 courses within an hour’s drive, offering golfers the option of playing at a different golf course every day, including Green Mountain National Golf Course, Proctor-Pittsford Country Club and the Rutland Country Club.

The Mountain Golf School at Killington is carefully structured to build each facet of one’s game, from basic form to game strategy. Golfers of all levels will spend each morning in a small group receiving one-on-one attention from a pro. After a detailed swing analysis, students will develop their skills in such areas as bunker play, full swing, putting, chipping, and pitching. In the afternoon, golfers can play the course with their pro.

The Mountain Golf School at Killington offers two-day weekend or three-day weekday packages that include lodging, instruction each day, daily greens fee, cart rental, unlimited use of the practice facilities, roving on-course Pro assistance for two hours after each class and lunch daily. Golf School Packages start at $171 per person per night, plus tax and gratuity. Private lessons are available at an additional cost.
