Snowmaking Commences for the First Time This Season at Mount Snow; the Resort Plans to Open One Lift on Friday, November 9 With All Proceeds From Lift Ticket Sales Going Towards Sandy Recovery

Mount Snow, VT (Nov. 5, 2012) – As the mercury dropped to favorable snowmaking conditions Sunday night, Mount Snow’s crew of snowmakers took to the mountain and fired up 108 of the resort’s 253 high output snowmaking fan guns on nine different trails, top-to-bottom, for the first snowmaking campaign of the season. Snowmaking conditions are expected throughout the day and into the night, so Mount Snow plans to keep the snow flying in an effort to lay down a base so the resort can open one trail with terrain park features serviced by one lift on Friday, November 9 with all proceeds from lift ticket sales to go towards Sandy recovery.

Last season, the resort opened the same trail and the same lift over Halloween weekend with all proceeds from ticket sales going to help North Star Bowling Alley in nearby Wilmington recover from damage sustained during Tropical Storm Irene.

Lift tickets will be $10 per person and the lift will spin from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Friday and, depending on snow conditions, Mount Snow will stay open during those same hours on Saturday and Sunday.

Resort officials are keeping a close eye on the weather forecast and will make snow as often as conditions permit in an effort to open full time for the 2012/2013 ski and snowboard season, tentatively scheduled for November 22 but could be as early as November 17.
