Okemo Lays Out President’s Week Ski Activities
LUDLOW, Vt. – The lineup of events for Okemo Mountain Resort’s February Vacation Week is positively presidential. In addition to skiing and snowboarding on more than 600 acres of terrain for all ability levels, Okemo offers ice skating, snow tubing, a mountain coaster, zipline tours, snowshoeing and Nordic skiing, plus so much more.
Saturday, Feb. 16
HUCKFEST 2013: Cash and prizes will be awarded for the best tricks and biggest air as
Skiers and riders launch themselves off a snowy ramp into the air, and land on a giant inflated pillow – the Amp Energy Big Air Bag. This competition is open to the public. The entry fee is $20 and registration is scheduled from 8-10 p.m. in Okemo’s Clock Tower Base Lodge. The competition begins at 11 a.m. on Lower Chief.
Sunday, Feb.17
TORCHLIGHT PARADE, FIREWORKS DISPLAY, AND GUIDED SNOWSHOE TOUR: Following a special kids’ torchlight parade, and a parade of Okemo staff members skiing with lighted torches, a spectacular fireworks display will light up the night sky over Okemo’s Clock Tower base area at 7:30 p.m. A guided snowshoe tour departing at 6:30 p.m. will provide participants with a rewarding perspective of the fireworks show. Reservations are recommended for the snowshoe tour and rentals are available for $15 (quantities are limited). 802-228-1558. VERMONT INSTITUE OF NATURAL SCIENCE PRESENTATION: RAPTOR ENCOUNTER: This presentation features an assortment of live animals for an informative and entertaining evening event for families. Raptor Encounter is a first-hand encounter with live falcons, hawks, and owls with a focus on the natural history, ecology, and adaptations of these efficient predators. Participants learn what adaptations make a bird a raptor. The program is free and open to the public. 7 p.m. in the Roundhouse at Jackson Gore.
Tuesday, Feb. 19
SHAKE `N’ SKATE: It’s disco skate night in the Ice House with a live DJ, fun, and games for the entire family from 6-9 p.m. Admission is $10 for skaters 12 and up and $8 for those under 12. Skate rentals are available for $5 (quantities are limited).

CEDAR HOLLOW JELLY SAMPLING
Cedar Hollow will be in the Jackson Gore Courtyard between 1-4 p.m. for tastes of some real, farm-made, Vermont jellies! Okemo’s Corner Store has a stock of everyone’s favorites for purchase!

NATURE MUSEUM AT GRAFTON PRESENTATION: OUR CHANGING MOON:
Does the moon stay the same each night? How does it change? Those questions and others will be answered at a free one-hour presentation at 7 p.m. at the Cornerstone Room at Jackson Gore.

LOST SKI AREAS: AUTHOR TALK AND BOOK SIGNING: Author Jeremy Davis discusses the Lost Ski Areas of New England at 7pm in the Cornerstone Room at Jackson Gore.
Saturday, Feb. 23
VINEYARD VINES SKI TOUR: Vineyard Vines makes a stop at Okemo during their 2013 ski tour. They’ll be on-site at Jackson Gore giving out swag and posing for pictures with the Vineyard Vines patchwork Denali.
STONYFIELD YOGURT SAMPLING DAY: Stoneyfield Farms will be at Okemo offering free samples of their delicious yogurt.
COMEDY NIGHT: Sponsored by Vermont Properties & Development and Okemo Mountain Resort, this side-splitting night of professional comedy is sure to have ‘em rolling in the aisles. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Appropriate for ages 21 and over. Proceeds benefit Okemo Mountain Scholarship Fund.
