BROWNSVILLE, Vermont ??” While kids won’t be roasting marshmallows over an open fire, late night giggles and whispers, ghost stories and flashlights peering out from underneath sleeping bags are just some of the sounds and sights from Ascutney Mountain Resort’s Youth Sleep-over Program. Designed for scout troops, youth or school groups, the program offers skiing and riding by day, with off-slope activities and unique, affordable “lodging” by night.

Groups make the main base lodge their “camping” site and have the entire lodge to themselves from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the next morning. In addition to skiing and riding for two days, groups can enjoy the indoor pool and Sports & Fitness Center, tubing on the Village Pond, and unlimited use of the cross-country and snowshoe trails. A special pizza party is held Saturday night and two hot breakfasts and two lunches are also included per person.

For those participants who need ski or snowboard lessons, or rental equipment, special reduced rates are available. The special Youth Sleep-over package is available throughout the season, from $69 per person and includes two nights lodging. A minimum of 15 people is needed for the special package.

In addition to the Youth Sleep-over Program, Ascutney also offers the Youth Slopeside Ski and Stay Package for youth groups of 20 or more people. Prices start at $107 per person and include two nights slopeside condo lodging, two days skiing/riding, two hot breakfasts and two lunches, plus a Saturday night pizza party and use of the resort’s amenities.

Youth Day Trip packages are also available. For more information or to make a youth group reservation, contact Group Sales at 802.484.7711, or visit
