Mount Snow Powder Day

Mount Snow, Vt. (January 24, 2014) – A bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates and a nice dinner have traditionally been every guy’s answer to what they plan to do for their special someone on Valentine’s Day. But for those couples looking to do something unique, romantic and memorable that won’t break the bank they need not look any farther than Cloud Nine Nuptials at Mount Snow in Vermont.

The procession is a ride up a chairlift, the altar is a podium positioned at the pinnacle of a heart painted on the snow and formal footwear is replaced with ski or snowboard boots – that is the scene couples wanting to renew their vows, or tie the knot for the first time, will enjoy this Valentine’s Day during the third annual Cloud Nine Nuptials. In just the first two years Mount Snow has held the free event almost 50 couples have renewed their vows, three have gotten married and one couple got engaged.
This coming Valentine’s Day will be equally as special with Rev. Deborah Frenette and her significant other Murray Grummitt, who live in Quebec, planning to tie the knot during Cloud Nine Nuptials. It will be the couple’s first ever visit to Mount Snow.

Deborah is not planning to take her vows in normal ski gear, however.

“I plan to wear a real wedding dress,” she said. “I have had the dress for many years, but we just have not gotten around to the wedding. We have it all figured out (how to get up the lift safely) and thanks to your mountain, this will finally happen.”

Jennifer and Thomas Lysik, who were married at the event last year, plan to celebrate their one year anniversary by renewing their vows during this year’s festivities.

The ceremony will be conducted by local justice of the peace, Cyndee Frere, followed by a reception in the Summit Lodge with cake, coffee and hot chocolate.

The southern Vermont resort is also offering a lift ticket deal for Valentine’s Day; 2-for-$49 when purchased at least 48 hours in advance online. For those who would like to spend the night, there’s the Valentine’s Package which includes a night of lodging at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel, lift ticket, breakfast and a room service delivery of champagne accompanied by chocolate covered strawberries.
