Okemo Skiers and Riders Return from NASTAR Nationals with Medals

LUDLOW, Vt. – Five racers represented Okemo Mountain Resort at this year’s NASTAR National Championship in March. The event took place at Winter Park.

Jim Knabb, of Medford Lakes, N.J., took fifth place in the Male 55-59 Bronze. Christine Jenne, of Huntington, N.Y., took third place in the Female 55-59 Platinum. Bob Zawacki, of Farmington, Conn., placed fifth in the Male 70-74 Gold. Joshua Rosenberg, of Ridgewood, N.J. placed second in the Male 5-6 Platinum Division. Patrick Moore, of Newington, Conn., placed fifth in the Male 60-64 Platinum Division and first in the Male 60-64 Snowboarding (his sixth Age Group National Championship) Moore has been Okemo’s NASTAR Coordinator and Pacesetter in past years. He holds the title of 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 Age Group National Snowboarding Champion and in 2008 became the first racer to concurrently become the National Age Group Champion in both skiing and snowboarding.

NASTAR, the world’s largest recreational ski and snowboard race program, is owned and operated by Bonnier Mountain Group, publisher of Skiing magazine, SKI magazine and Warren Miller Entertainment.

Since the program’s inception four decades ago, more than six million racer days have been recorded by NASTAR. Racers qualify for the National Championships by earning a top-three ranking in their age division at any of the 120-plus Nature Valley NASTAR ski resorts throughout North America.
