2007 Budweiser Challenge Race Series Getting Ready to Start at Whiteface

WILMINGTON, New York — With the arrival of over 38-inches of new snow since January 8, the annual Budweiser Challenge Race Series at Whiteface is set to begin January 31.

This six-race business/corporate recreational alpine ski racing series is once again sponsored by local Budweiser distributor A & M Beverages of Malone.

The competitors take two trips each down the NASTAR course on the Lower Valley trail with the lowest combined scores winning. Each team must have a minimum of five people ??“ two women and three men. Racers may use alpine skis, snowboards, blades ??“ anything they wish as long as they can make it down the course. The women will be divided into two groups, the men into three and there are no age restrictions for any group. For team scoring, the winner of each group will get 10 points for first place and go down to one point. Any competitor over 60 will earn one extra point while competitors over 70 will earn two.

The dates are January 31, February 7, 14, 28, March 14 and 21. All races begin at 11:30 am and run until 1 pm. Whiteface is offering a special $25 lift ticket for team members on race day. All members must be registered with NASTAR (www.nastar.com) before competing. The team entry fee is $200.
