Attitash_PinTheTrail_loresBartlett, NH – Attitash Mountain Resort will again host the POC Eastern States Cup New Hampshire Downhill Championship and will also be a venue for the series new Enduro Mountain Bike event. The Eastern States Cup (ESC) is a USA Cycling (USAC) Regional Championship Series with events being held in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, and New York. This season, Attitash will feature the Enduro event on the weekend of July 13 & 14 and Downhill event September 14 & 15.

“We are excited to be one of the New Hampshire venues to host the POC Eastern States Cup events again including their new Enduro series” said Attitash Mountain Bike Programs Coordinator Nate Waterhouse. “The two state championship events, featuring the Enduro event in July and the Downhill event in September, will be exciting races and fun weekends for riders.” The new Enduro event will challenge riders to compete against each other on individual timed stages that are designed to challenge the rider’s technical and physical abilities. Timed stages will be mostly downhill and will test the rider’s technical skills using the best trails and terrain available. It is possible that some climbs will be within the timed stages. The Downhill event in September will feature riders competing in a single run format taking the best times in age and rider level categories. The course will be a mix of descending open trails and single-track sections through the woods on Attitash Mountain. These are part of a greater network of 27 designated mountain biking trails that Attitash has continued to develop and maintain.

Attitash will also begin its Pin the Trail downhill mountain biking summer weekly race series on Wednesday, July 10. The six week series is comprised of a weekly single run format downhill mountain bike race held every Wednesday at Attitash. For downhill mountain bikers of all performance levels, the series can be a great introduction to downhill racing or a consistent opportunity to practice weekly. Each week, a number plate draw determines the next week’s course and racers will accumulate points and have a chance to win prizes and items provided by series sponsors including Bern Unlimited, Eastern Mountain Sports, Kali, Keen Footwear, Matty B’s Mountainside Cafe, Michelin Bicycle Tires, and Smith Optics. The series entry fee is $70 or a daily entry fee of $15. The best overall winner will be announced at the end of the series on Wednesday, August 14.

Attitash has over 20 miles of mountain bike trails including the more difficult and technically challenging downhill trails and eight cross country trails more suited to all abilities and those just beginning to discover mountain biking as a recreational activity. Mountain bike season passes are available for only $100. The Dirt Trax Bike Shop, located on the main floor of the Attitash Base Lodge in the South Wing, stocks a full line of mountain bike clothing and accessories, as well as a fleet of rental bikes, new high-end downhill demo bikes and protective gear.
