HIGHMOUNT, New York ??” Belleayre Mountain focuses on the more advanced snowsports enthusiast with innovative improvements for the ’05-’06 snow season. Belleayre Mountain has added two new glade runs and one new double diamond/diamond trail, bringing the out-of-bounds, in-bounds. The glades are located on the upper mountain between Belleayre Run and Wannatuska and Winnisook and Tongora and the new trail, Lift Line, utilizes the space under the Tomahawk Lift.

The additional terrain opens areas formerly off limits to skiers and riders, incorporating the natural features of the landscape to create nature’s own terrain park. Advanced level enthusiasts will no longer have reason to drop a glove from Tomahawk lift for the excuse to enter off limits terrain. Careful consideration was given to creating a safe environment while leaving the natural contour and elements of the slopes intact.

Cardenali Ski Camps return to Belleayre Mountain with an extended schedule of clinics. These two-day, specialty camps for skiers with the desire to master the gates, translate dry-ground training in breathing, centering, nutrition and muscle preparation into dramatically improved on-snow performance. The Cardenali staff of international masters focus on fun and eliminate intimidation. Clinics are scheduled for December 17-18, January 7-8, January 28-29, February 18-19 and March 11-12. Advanced registration is required.

The Reliable Racing Carving Skill Park comes to Belleayre Mountain as the first of its kind on the East Coast. This non-competitive, timed course is designed to accelerate the learning curve and increase carving abilities for all skill levels, allowing shaped skis and snowboards to do exactly what they were designed to do. This course is free to skiers and riders. The timer feature allows participants to judge their own improvement.

Belleayre Mountain continues to be a leader in the industry for affordable skiing with a variety of special deals. Skiers and riders ski free on their birthday and a special formula allows everybody to enjoy a winter birthday. Winter Festival Week, January 21-29, offers $10 lift tickets from January 23-27. Special activities for Winter Festival Week incorporate the weekends with the towns of Phoenicia, Pine Hill, Fleischmanns, Margaretville and Andes offering apres ski activities each night of the week in addition to special on mountain events. One Friday per month is designated at Skier Appreciation day and the lift tickets are $15.

The unfortunate increase in gasoline prices makes it even more important to “take a closer peak” and visit Belleayre Mountain this winter. Just 2.5 hours from the George Washington Bridge, Belleayre Mountain is less than a tank away. Accommodations are available through the Belleayre Region Lodging & Tourism Association by calling 800.431.4555. Ski Free/Stay Free packages available for families with children 12 & under.
