HUNTER, New York — Bernie Weichsel, owner of BEWI and a longtime friend of Hunter Mountain, will be awarded Hunter’s annual Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifelong dedication to the ski industry. The award will be given on Friday, November 23 at 4pm at Hunter Mountain, and his photo will be displayed in the Hall of Fame in Hunter’s base lodge.

Bernie has a long history in the Catskills, strapping on his first pair of skis at age four. Bernie’s love of skiing goes hand-in-hand with his enthusiasm in event planning: while in college, he began organizing activities, events and promotions, which led him to found his own company, BEWI Productions.

Today, Bernie’s company owns and produces the Ski & Snowboard Expos held in Boston and Denver each fall. Bernie has also raised funds for the US Ski Team, organized urban winter festivals in New York City’s Central Park and The Boston Common in Boston. Bernie is also the founder and president of SKIUSA, and creator of the Active Sports and Travel Expos.

Hunter Mountain’s Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Bernie to recognize his contribution to the industry and his lifelong pursuit of bringing people into the snow sports industry. Bernie’s events have brought countless people and interest to the ski industry, and Hunter Mountain would like to express its endless gratitude for Bernie’s longstanding friendship, support, and dedication to the ski industry.
