BOLTON VALLEY, Vermont ??” It has been over 20 years since Bolton Valley Resort has seen the kind of changes that it did this season. Over $2 million in on-mountain improvements have been made to the Resort and more upgrades are forecasted for the upcoming year. Phase one of a $10 million renaissance plan began this season with the opening of new top-to-bottom Vista Quad, the new Vista Bowl and the new Fireside Flatbread Pizzeria.

The man behind the renaissance of Bolton Valley Resort is ski industry veteran, Bob Fries. Fries purchased the Resort in 2002. His extensive background in the ski industry includes serving as Vice President of Waterville Valley, Managing Director of Breckenridge Resort, and directing operations of New York’s New York State’s Olympic Regional Development Authority. Before coming to Bolton he headed up Intrawest’s makeover of Stratton Mountain Resort. Needless to say, this guy knows his stuff.

The mid 1990’s were a very hard time for many ski areas across Vermont. Poor snowfalls and lack of consistent leadership caused Bolton Valley Resort to suffer. Fries saw great potential for the Resort to make a comeback. In 1988, Bolton Valley Resort was ranked 7th among the nations top 100 family destinations. With over 30 years of ski management experience Fries has been able to breathe life back into the Resort.

Fries has put Bolton back on the map. In the past four years he has been able to turn heads and get locals excited to ski and ride at Bolton Valley once again. Bolton Valley Resort is working its way back up and with Bob Fries in the driver’s seat; the Resort’s future looks very bright.

Bolton Valley Resort features 64 trails and new glades, 6 lifts including a new top-to-bottom quad chair, night skiing and riding, slopeside accommodations and Vermont’s only lighted terrain park. Conveniently located just eight miles from interstate 89 and 20 miles south of Burlington, VT. For more information, visit www.boltonvalley.com or call 1-877-9BOLTON.
