Catamount Freestyle Team set to Compete in the USASA

HILLSDALE, New York ??” Catamount’s Freestyle Team is set to compete in its first sanctioned United States of America Snowboard Association (USASA) competition this Saturday Jan. 21st at Catamount Ski Area. The team will compete as a part of the Catskill Mountain Series against snowboarders & skiers from Windham, Hunter, Bellayre & Plattekill Mountains.

This Saturday’s event will be a Slopestyle competition beginning at 11:00am. The event will feature the entire Terrain Park which has been expanded once again for this season in order to accommodate the ever growing population of snowboarders and the evolution of this now Olympic recognized sport.

The top riders & skiers from this series will represent there mountains at the USASA Finals in Northstar at Tahoe, CA March 27th through April 1st. Catamount has hosted USASA events in the past, but this is the first year that it will sponsor a team of riders and skiers for the Catskill Mountain series.

Catamount has always recognized snowboarding and freestyle skiing as one of the fastest growing winter sports. In developing a Freestyle team Catamount’s goals are to promote a safe and fun environment for kids to learn how to ride and ski in the terrain park while building a competitive spirit amongst their athletes.
