Schneider Triple at CranmoreNew $1 Million Lift to Be Named After Skiing Legend Herbert Schneider

The new Schneider Triple Chairlift shown here under construction earlier this fall.
WHEN: Friday, December 28, 2012

TIME: 12:00 pm

WHERE: Cranmore Mountain Resort, at the base of the new chairlift

WHAT: Cranmore Mountain will host a dedication of its new Schneider Triple chairlift

The new chairlift is to be named in honor of Herbert Schneider who passed away in June 2012. Herbert Schneider, who arrived in North Conway, NH with his family from Austria as a 15-year-old in 1939, devoted his life to skiing and his community in the Eastern Slopes Region of the White Mountains. He was a long-time owner and General Manager of Cranmore Mountain. Schneider’s sons, Hannes and Christoph Schneider, and grandsons Markus and Hannes Schneider, will be guests of honor at the dedication.

The new Schneider Triple chairlift will increase Cranmore’s uphill lift capacity and additional vertical to the southern slopes of the resort. It will also give skiers a 3rd summit access lift. This new lift represents a $1 mil. investment and is the only new chairlift being installed in the state this winter.

In June 2010, Cranmore was purchased by the owners of Jiminy Peak Resort based in Massachusetts. Since then, Cranmore has undergone major renovations totaling over $8.3 million, including the installation of northern New England’s first Mountain Coaster, the building of a new dedicated Children’s Learning Center, plus opening for summer activities in May 2011.

This Lift Dedication event is open to the public and Cranmore welcomes its media partners, and the local business and lodging community to attend. A lift ticket or season pass is required to ride the lift to the event.

To access the new lift, attendees are requested to arrive at the base of the South Quad at 11:30am. The base of the new lift where the dedication will take place is accessible on skis or snowboards only. For media requiring ground transportation to the event, there is limited availability and an RSVP by December 23 is requested.
