With 8 trails, 5 snowmaidens, 3 Hula Hoopers, 2 Polar Bears, 1 Ullr and LOTS of fun!

MT. CRESTED BUTTE, Colo. – Nov. 21 – Another successful Opening Day kicked off this morning for Crested Butte Mountain Resort. To bless the area with plentiful snow this year, the team planned a day around Ullr; the Norse God, known for his skiing and skilled hunting abilities. The resort offered free skiing for all to continue a local tradition and celebrate the upcoming winter season. With eight trails, four lifts, 59 acres and an 18 inch base, Crested Butte Mountain Resort is officially open for skiing.

The morning started with Ullr and his snowmaidens skiing down Warming House Hill to a snow throne overlooking the Red Lady lift line greeting the local kids who spent the night to be on the first chair; a tradition for the young teens in the Gunnison Valley. Ullr then skied atop his throne and read a snow proclamation to a cheering crowd, eager to load the lifts. Champagne and hot chocolate were given out and the campers with their Chair #1 credentials loaded the first chair of the season. The rest is history.
