LAKE PLACID, New York — The New York Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) continues the celebration of fall with the 7th Annual Flaming Leaves Festival at the Olympic Jumping Complex October 6-7, from 10 am ??“ 5 pm daily.

This blues, brews and barbeques-themed festival features a ski jumping competition, pony rides, face painting, vendors, live entertainment, a silent auction and more. New this year is a 60-foot inflatable obstacle course. Centerplate, ORDA’s concessionaire, will offer brews and great barbequed food throughout the day.

Both days feature a 90-meter ski jump competition with over 50 local and regional athletes scheduled to attend. The jumpers take flight at noon in the first of two rounds of competition. The second round of jumping will be held while live music from the Stoneman Blues Band on Saturday and The Blue Method on Sunday envelops the venue.

Stoneman Blues Band kicks off the music for the weekend and features former NYSEF ski jumping coach Larry Stone. This band specializes in a blend of music which ranges from country to blues to swing with a base in American roots. They play from 1 pm ??“ 2 pm and again from 3 pm ??“ 4 pm.

Following the Stoneman Blues Band is Valley Entertainment recording artist Todd Wolfe. He plays an aggressive, daring, experimental bluesy, jamming rock. The band was formed following his five-year stint with Sheryl Crow as lead guitarist and occasional writing partner. They play from 2 pm ??“ 3 pm and 4 pm ??“ 5 pm.

Sunday’s music starts with The Blue Method at 1 pm. This band from Philadelphia is a fusion of Galactic, Curtis Mayfield, Sly & The Family Stone, and Kool & The Gang all rolled into one. The Blue Method is on stage from 1 pm ??“ 2 pm and again 3 pm ??“ 4 pm.

Los Blancos returns this year to wrap up the weekend’s music. This Syracuse-based band is known for “Blues, Memphis Soul, rockin’ Zydeco, Latin Outlaw Country, Funk and Folk – Los Blancos doesn’t just cross the line between styles…they soak it in tequila and TORCH IT!” They take the stage from 2 pm ??“ 3 pm and 4 pm ??“ 5 pm.

Added to this year’s festival is the 50-Days to Whiteface’s Opening. This party will take place at Lisa G’s, located at 6125 Sentinel Road, on Saturday, October 6. The party starts at 6 pm with a command performance by Todd Wolfe. At 8 pm is Meathead Film’s New York premiere of Wanderland. ???Meathead athletes are a breed apart. Able to perform at the highest level both on the mountain and ruling apr??s ski, these carefully selected individuals are the best of the best. Shredding every aspect of the sport, the Meatheads epitomize what every Easter skier should be: skilled, fearless, and just plain sexy,??? according to meatheadfilms.com. The movie will be shown outside weather permitting. There will also be lots of prizes, an air band competition, giveaways, and more. Whiteface is celebrating its 50th winter season this year.
