CARRABASSETT VALLEY, Maine ??” “The man who made Eddie cruise,” and an icon of the 1980s John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band, will headline a special Bud Light Concert event at Sugarloaf/USA on Saturday, Feb. 25. Tickets for the concert are free for Gold and Platinum All For One Pass holders and $10 for the general public.

Also that weekend, The Widowmaker Lounge will host encore performances by The Cusacks who played to a sold out crowd at Sugarloaf on New Year’s Eve.

Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band earned national prominence following their music contributions to the hit movie Eddie and the Cruisers in the mid 1980s. Cafferty’s rendition of Tender Years (which had been a poignant gem in the band’s repertoire for years) and On the Dark Side flew to the top of the Billboard Charts.

Those hits took sales of the movie soundtrack above the 3 million mark, earning the band triple platinum status. Their following album, Tough All Over, was released in 1985 and yielded two more top 20 hits including the title track, Tough All Over and C.I.T.Y. It also included pointed vignettes like Dixieland, a gospel-flavored rave about Frost Belt refugees in the South; Small Town Girl, a doo-wop-tinged love tune Crystal Blue, a heartbreak ballad with a Tex-Mex feel; and the powerful rocker Voices of America’s Sons, Cafferty’s declaration of rock music’s role for his generation, which also appeared on the Rocky IV soundtrack.

The Sugarloaf concert is open to those 21 and older. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by calling 1-800-THE LOAF or 207-237-6939. Gold and Platinum All For One Pass holders can pick up one ticket per pass at the door prior to the start of the show. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and opening performer will take the stage at 8:30 p.m. John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band will perform at 9 p.m. Proper ID is required. Ski and Stay packages are available for the weekend and start at just $99 per person per night and include lodging, lift tickets, adult Perfect Turn clinics and access to the Sports and Fitness Center.
