KILLINGTON, Vermont — Killington Resort is offering aerial fall foliage viewing via K-1 Gondola, plus mountain biking, hiking and special events to showcase the spectacular autumn colors throughout the Green Mountains of Central Vermont.
Historically, the leaves start to change the second to third week of September and continue through late October with “peak foliage season” taking place around the first to second week of October, according to the Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing.
A scenic ride on the K-1 Gondola to the highest lift-served terrain in Vermont offers an opportunity to view the foliage colors in the heart of the Green Mountains. In addition, the summit of Killington Peak, a short 10-minute hike from the top of the gondola, provides a panoramic view of five states and Canada on a crisp, clear autumn day.
Grab your mountain bike, or rent a Kona mountain at the Killington Mountain Bike Shop, and enjoy a thrilling ride through the colors on more than 45 miles of trails of Killington’s Kona “Groove Approved” Mountain Bike Park. If you’re looking for a more leisurely option to take in the colors of fall, enjoy a hike off the top of Killington Peak on one of the many hiking trails. At nearby Pico Mountain , enjoy the views from atop Little Pico Peak via the Little Pico Triple Chair, followed by hike back to the base or a thrilling ride on the Alpine Slide.
