Lincoln, NH ( December 11, 2012) — Loon Mountain Resort is excited to announce the grand opening of its new Burton Riglet and Lil’ Stash Parks on December 22-23. These new parks, built in collaboration with Burton Snowboards, will transform the way young children learn to snowboard, and how families use the mountain.

The Burton Riglet Park will officially open on Saturday, Dec. 22, with a ribbon-cutting scheduled for 10 a.m. The Burton Lil’ Stash will open on Sunday, Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. Representatives from Burton and Loon will be on hand to celebrate, and to educate the public about the new parks.

While the first terrain parks were built as a place for kids to get away from their parents and learn how to go big, snowboarding has since become a family activity. With multiple generations of riders now sharing the slopes, the new Burton Riglet Park & Lil’ Stash were designed to make snowboarding easier for mom, dad, and the kids.

“Having a partner like Loon Mountain allows us to continue to evolve resort snowboarding,” said Jeff Boliba, Burton’s VP of Global Resorts. “Loon is always at the forefront of park riding, so we knew it would be a great collaboration.”

The Burton Riglet Park is designed for three to six-year old snowboarders who are just getting started. Located next to the Kissin’ Cousin chairlift, the Paul Bunyan-themed park features rolls, berms, micro pipe, and a ground-level box perfect for knee-high snowboarders. The new park is an extension of the resort’s Burton Learn to Ride Center for adults and kids, which uses specially-designed equipment and techniques to make it easier to learn to snowboard. In the Burton Riglet Park, instructors ease the learning process by towing little riders through the park using the Burton Riglet Reel, which attaches to the nose of compatible Burton snowboards. Riglet Park Experience lessons, coupled with Burton Learn to Ride Center teaching techniques, create a dynamic and fun environment for all kids learning to snowboard.

Families with slightly older snowboarders will find the Burton Lil’ Stash the perfect place to shred. Located in a mellow glade to the east of the Little Sister chairlift, Lil’ Stash features rollers, logs, bonks, and carvings of Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. It’s a quiet place to develop park and freeriding skills, and the easy gladed terrain lets aerially-challenged parents have fun, too.
