Loon Mountain Opens for Summer Operations Saturday, June 24

LINCOLN, New Hampshire ??” As the White Mountains quickly sheds the winter white away and the summer warmth moves its way in, Loon Mountain will open for summer operations on Saturday, June 24. Loon Mountain offers a full range of summer events, activities and breath-taking scenery that will keep guests intrigued all summer long.

The Loon Mountain Gondola Skyride takes guests to new heights in 14 minutes and is the longest aerial lift in N.H., traveling 7,000 feet. At the summit, guests are exposed to breathtaking views of the White Mountains and beyond and can explore glacial caves, hike the nature trail, climb the observation tower or stop by the Summit caf?В©, overlooking Loon Pond, and grab a bite to eat. Skyride tickets can be purchased at the Gift Shop in the Gondola Barn and are priced at: $12 for adults, $7 juniors (6 – 12), $10 seniors (65 +) and free for children under 5 or Threedom Pass holders. The Gift Shop also holds treasure maps for the buried treasure in the glacial caves. Kids can get their map that will lead them on an adventurous expedition in the caves. Skyrides are available from June 24 through October 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Back at the bottom, guests will find the best way to view the Loon’s base area is out of the Adventure Center. With the full-service bike center offering complete bicycle rentals, sales, repairs and info on the best trails around, it is no wonder why biking at Loon Mountain is a favorite among many guests and locals. From the Adventure Center, guests can also participate in the Franconia Notch Bike Tour. This is a self-guided tour that leaves Loon daily at 10:30a.m. and 1:00p.m., with a shuttle ride for you and your bike to scenic Echo Lake in Franconia Notch. From there you’ll enjoy a relaxing downhill ride along a paved biking trail through the scenic Notch to Loon Mountain. Those guests that want to climb to new height, the outdoor climbing wall offers an exhilarating experience for beginners to avid climbers. The Adventure Center is open daily, June 24 – September 4, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and weekends only September 9 – October 9. Throughout the summer Loon Mountain hosts unique special events such as Sunday Summit Brunch and Bluegrass & BBQ. The Sunday Summit Brunch is the perfect way for guests to start their day, from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m., July 2 – September 3. Visitors can enjoy an a-la-carte brunch menu with a Caribbean calypso theme. Specialty items include Mango Waffles, Red Hot Calypso Cakes, and Bahama Mama Eggs Benedict with Roasted Pineapple and Ham. Every Sunday during the summer, the Reverend Skip Schwarz conducts a church service at the outdoor amphitheater on top of Loon Mountain. The service is at 10:00 a.m. and the gondola departs at 9:30 a.m., rain or shine. Tickets can be bought at the gondola barn for $5 for adults and children under 5 are always free.
