LINCOLN, New Hampshire — Loon Mountain is becoming whiter as the first snow guns of the season were fired up earlier this week when favorably cold temps pushed into the area. Loon Mountain plans to kick off the winter season on Friday, December 1.

“Our goal is to have quality top-to-bottom coverage for our guests on opening day,” said Director of Mountain Operations Ralph Lewis. “With the power of our snowmaking system and our skilled team of groomers and snowmakers, we expect to have great snow for a fantastic opening day of skiing and riding.”

Loon Mountain is moving forward with its Thanksjibbing Rail Jam and Movie Premiere scheduled for this Saturday afternoon, November, 25. Registration for the competition is from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. in the Octagon Lodge with a $10 entry fee per competitor. The rail jam will begin at 5 p.m. and “It Ain’t Easy”, awards, food, drinks and a Threedom Pass raffle follow the last jib. The Turkey Triathlon scheduled for this weekend has been canceled.

“We’re expecting a full house for the rail jam,” said Terrain Park Manager Jay Scambio. “It’s great to have the support of the snowmaking crew and the operations department.” Transworld SNOWboarding Readers named Loon Mountain to the Top 10 in every category: #5 Resort in North America, #6 for Parks and #7 for Pipes.

With close to $500,000 in snowmaking improvements invested in 2006 and upgrades including the installation of 31 Ratnik guns, and ten new tower guns, Loon Mountain can ensure great skiing and riding conditions all season long.

Loon also has a jam packed schedule of events for the 2006 – 07 winter season and opening weekend events will jumpstart the season with the Open Season Rail Jam on Saturday, December 2nd and USASA Jib Competition on Sunday, the 3rd. A complete events schedule can be viewed at www.loonmtn.com.
