VERNON, New Jersey ??” On Saturday, March 11th Mountain Creek will bring two imaginative and unusual events to the resort for guests of all ages and ability levels, The Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam, and the Z100 Snowplow Luau and Pond Skimming.

New to the event calendar this season, Mountain Creek will host the 8th stop of the The Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam North American tour. The goal of this amateur snowboard series is to give something back to the kids who have dedicated themselves to the sport of snowboarding. In addition to providing free peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and tons of giveaways from Volcom, the jam will turn away from conventional snowboard contests by implementing a new format including three different rails set along side each other. This format creates a rail zone that boosts energy levels as competitors ride side by side.

The jam will be split into four divisions; 16 and under, 17 and over, Open (pro-am) and Girls. Heats of 20 riders will compete for 20 minutes in jam format with the three rails judged separately. A final round will be held for competitors with the highest point accumulations. Onsite registration will take place the day of the event in Cobblestone Village at the Vernon base from 8-9am. The first 90 contestants may also pre-register online at www.volcom.com and the event will be capped at 180 individuals.

Others who love the summer spirit but don’t want to let go of winter will welcome the return of the Z100 Snowplow Luau and Pond Skimming, and we’ll fire up the grill that same day at noon. The all day event will include a Hawaiian barbeque and pig roast, a “Beanies, Bikini’s and Boardshorts” runway show featuring guests in their best beach wear, and a pond build right into the snow for competitors looking to test out their water skimming abilities on skis and snowboards.

Individuals 18 and over may register for the Pond Skimming at 12pm at the top of the pond (located at the bottom of the superpipe) at Vernon base. The event will be capped at 30 participants and will run from 12:30-2pm. Guests looking to enter in the “Beanies, Bikini’s and Boardshorts” runway show must be 18 and over and may pre-register at www.mountaincreek.com. The show will run from 2:30-3:15pm in the plaza below the Cabriolet lift at Vernon base.
