BRETTON WOODS, New Hampshire — On Saturday, February 17, Bretton Woods Mountain Resort will host the ninth annual Fund-Dash Dual, a team alpine race to benefit Bretton Woods Adaptive, Inc.

“This is a great opportunity to show support not only for the Bretton Woods Adaptive Snowsports Program, but also for our expanding summer adaptive recreation program. I hope that many will choose to join us for a great day racing in an exciting and fun format,” said Bretton Woods Adaptive Supervisor Sandy Olney. “Thousands of dollars raised in past years’ events have allowed for the continued purchase of necessary adaptive equipment so hundreds of people with disabilities may experience the challenge and enrichment of recreational sports.” Last year, the event raised approximately $12,000 dollars for scholarships and adaptive equipment.

The Fund-Dash Dual is open to skiers of all ages, and adaptive skiers are welcome to participate. Each team will consist of four members. Individuals who enter will be assigned to a team at registration. Each racer will have two runs. The combined time for each racer will be counted towards the team total, using the NASTAR factoring system.

The entry fee for the Fund-Dash Dual Race is $85.00 per person, or $20.00 with a Bretton Woods season pass or valid lift ticket. Individual entries will be assigned to a team at registration. The entry fee includes a full-day lift ticket, t-shirt and a chance for giveaways and raffle prizes. Registration will take place from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. in the Bretton Woods base lodge. A team captains’ meeting is slated for 9:30 a.m. at the bottom of the race corral.

A silent auction and raffle will take place between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on the lower level of the Bretton Woods base lodge. Various local merchants have donated items such as lift tickets, restaurant gift certificates, gift baskets, handcrafted items and other unique items. Additionally, a recreational kayak donated by Kelly Chase of Outback Kayak in Lincoln, NH and valued at $500.00 will be raffled.

The Bretton Woods Adaptive Snowsports Program has grown to a year-round operation and recently formalized as a non-profit organization named Bretton Woods Adaptive, Inc. Its mission is to provide opportunities for persons with disabilities, their families and friends to engage in and enjoy sports and recreational activities that can change and enrich their lives. Bretton Woods Adaptive, Inc. operates as part of the Bretton Woods Ski School and is led by Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Certified Adaptive Snowsports Instructors. Adaptive equipment, if needed, is provided to all students and instruction is provided by specially trained volunteers. The Bretton Woods Adaptive Program office will hold an open house from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on race day.
