Okemo Welcomes Skiers and Boarders for Feb. 24 Sobe Superpipe Competition

LUDLOW, Vermont — Whether performing an Alley Oop with a Tail Grab, a Frontside 720 or a Cab 900, skiers and riders competing in Okemo Mountain Resort’s SoBe Superpipe Competition, part of the Okemo Freeride series, will be throwing their biggest tricks for fame, glory and tremendous prizes on Saturday, February 24.

“The pipe is in great condition,” says Okemo Parks and Pipes Director Dennis Brady. “Okemo’s commitment to snowmaking allowed us to be the first in the East to open our superpipe this winter and it’s just been getting better ever since.”

Registration for the SoBe Superpipe Competition will take place in the Okemo Base Lodge from 8 to 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. The entry fee is $20. Start time is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and competitors will be vying for prizes provided by Series sponsors SoBe, ScottUSA, Dakine, Obermeyer, Salomon, Atomic Snowboards, Level Gloves and Mountain Dew.

Okemo’s SoBe Superpipe is located in the Dew Zone. It is the longest Superpipe in the East, measuring 500-feet long. The pipe is maintained regularly with a Zaugg Pipe Monster and the pipe is serviced by its own lift ??“ The Pull surface lift.

Everyone visiting Okemo on Feb. 24 will have a chance to sample SoBe Life Water as they leave Okemo by way of the clock tower archway.
