Saddleback Launches High End Summer Artist’s Workshop Series

RANGELEY, ME — Saddleback Ski Resort has launched a high end Summer Artist’s Workshop Series with the first workshop scheduled for July 9-12. The workshops will be conducted by award winning, internationally renowned artists and will involve intensive and focused studio time.
“Our goal is to create a new venue for high-quality workshops that will take its place along side other premier craft centers in the United States whose reputation extends nationally and internationally”, said Mark Robie, program coordinator.

The classes will be held in Saddleback’s post and beam base lodge with views of Maine’s Western Mountains and the Rangeley Lakes, an inspirational setting to enhance the experiential education of participants. The entire lodge will be reserved for those attending the workshops. The lodge will remain open in the evening for students to be able to continue working on their projects and to socialize with other participants.

Workshops
* The Marriage of Surface and Form using Polymer Clays — July 9-12, 2012
4-day workshop in polymer clays by world renowned artists Bonnie Bishoff and Melanie West. Basic knowledge of how to work with polymer clays is needed.

* Rock Cuff Class with Melanie Muir – July 13, 2012
1-day class in polymer jewelery by award winning, internationally renowned artist Melanie Muir, who is coming all the way from Scotland to show how to make here “Rock Cuff”.

* Learn the Magic! An introduction to Precious Metal Clays — August 20-21, 2012
2 days of step-by-step demonstrations on how to create pendants and earnings with precious metal clay silver.

Additional workshops are being finalized and will be announced shortly.

Lodging is available in 1-4 bedroom on-mountain condominiums at Saddleback near the Saddleback Base Lodge, location of the workshops. Alternative lodging is also in the nearby towns of Rangeley and Oquossoc.
