Ski New Hampshire Releases Summer Events Calendar

NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH, JULY 2012 – Throughout late summer and fall, Ski NH mountain resorts offer a spectacular line-up of special events for the entire family – from antique car shows and craft fairs, to golf tournaments, food festivals, bike races, music festivals, and more. From sports fanatic to fine arts lover, there is something to entertain everyone, and it all happens amid some of the most beautiful scenery New Hampshire’s lakes and mountains have to offer. Here is a selection of what guests have to look forward to the rest of this summer and into autumn:
JULY

July 28 LOON MOUNTAIN: Lawn Game Classic – Loon Mountain and Harpoon Brewery present the Loon Lawn Game Classic. The competition is comprised of two events, Corn Hole and Polish Horseshoes.

July 28 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Saturday Evening Concerts – Free outdoor concerts on Saturday evenings in Town Square through September 1.

July 28 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Art, Wine and Cheese – Admire works by local & regional artists, sample wines, and munch on cheese from Cabot Creamery.

July 28 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Amazing Race – Get your team together to take on adventures in Waterville Valley. Teams of two will be challenged with problem solving, scavenger hunts & more!

July 31 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Summer Mountain Bike Series – A weekly mountain bike race series for all abilities and ages. Every Tuesday for eight weeks, racers can bike the long, short or mini courses.
AUGUST

August 1-4 GUNSTOCK MOUNTAIN RESORT: Soulfest – Four days, five stages, and over 125 artists and speakers at the largest outdoor music festival in New England.

August 2 CRANMORE MOUNTAIN RESORT: Arts Jubilee Concert Series – Concert series held every Thursday evenings through August 9. Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs.

August 4 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Chocolate and Jazz – Enjoy live music and chocolate sampling.

August 4 LOON MOUNTAIN: Hot Dog Festival – The Table of Fabulous Toppings will be back and a variety of hot dogs at your disposal.

August 4-12 MOUNT SUNAPEE: 79th Annual League of NH Craftsmen’s Fair – Over 200 booths featuring a wide variety of fine craft by juried craftsmen.

August 11-12 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Curious George Festival – A weekend full of family fun including a petting zoo, nature walks, face painting, live music, planetarium shows, and more.

August 11-12 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: 24 Hours of Great Glen – A 24-hour mountain bike race wrapped into a weekend-long mountain bike festival.

August 16 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Community Luau – Enjoy a taste of the tropics on Corcoran’s Pond beach with live music, BBQ, campfire, s’mores, hula and limbo contests, and piƱata smashing.

August 17 GRANITE GORGE: Granite Get Down – Southern New Hampshire’s premier music festival.

August 17 LOON MOUNTAIN: Wine Days of Summer – Enjoy wine, food and light jazz music.

August 17-19 GUNSTOCK MOUNTAIN RESORT: Timberfest – The Timberman Triathlon, family events and more.

August 18-19 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Renaissance Fair – This family event will feature live music, a roaming fiddler, food vendors, and exciting combat by the Neville Company doing battle in shining armor.

August 24 BRETTON WOODS: Through the Decades Weekend and Car Show – Friday will feature music and activities from the ’20s, ’30s and ’40s. Saturday will feature the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s and Sunday will feature the ’80s, ’90s and today.

August 25-26 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Renaissance Fair – This family event will feature live music, a roaming fiddler, food vendors, and exciting combat by the Neville Company doing battle in shining armor.

August 29 MOUNT SUNAPEE: Family Night at the Summit – Features fare for the whole family plus a scavenger hunt and other activities for the kids.
SEPTEMBER

September 1 LOON MOUNTAIN: Summer Send Off – Celebrate the end of summer with food, music, and lots of fun for everyone with rock climbing, zip-lining, and more.

September 2 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Just Ducky End of Summer Bash- Free outdoor concerts, kids games, plus the annual charity Duck Race.

September 6 GREAT GLEN TRAILS: Fall Trail Running Series – Weekly trail running series for all ages and abilities, held every Thursday through October 11.

September 8 MOUNT SUNAPEE: 6th Annual Upper Valley Humane Society Auction – Enjoy a live and silent auction, live music, food, drink and more.

September 15 GUNSTOCK MOUNTAIN RESORT: Warrior Dash – An extreme 3-4 mile run with approximately 12 challenging obstacles along the course.

September 16 RAGGED MOUNTAIN: Watt’s Invitational – Golf tournament open to the public.

September 21-23 LOON MOUNTAIN: NH Highland Games – The largest Scottish festival in the Northeast; this three-day gathering celebrates everything Scottish-food, music, culture, dancing, athletics and more.

September 28 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Storytelling Festival- Back for its second year, this festival provides stories for people of every age: ghost stories, kids’ stories and adults’ stories.

September 29 WATERVILLE VALLEY: 14th Annual Chili Challenge – Area restaurants compete for the title of best chili. Attendees pay a sampling fee then vote for their favorite. Guests can also enjoy a chili bean toss, chili pepper eating contest and outdoor concert.
OCTOBER

October 6-7 LOON MOUNTAIN: Oktoberfest – A weekend that may leave sauerkraut in your shoes and sandals when you leave, with plenty of beer and food.

October 6-7 MOUNT SUNAPEE: 4th Annual Fall Foliage Pig Roast & Barbecue – Outdoor pig roast and barbecue, aerial sky rides, games and activities with prizes, pumpkin carving and live music.

October 6-8 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Fall Foliage Festival – Enjoy family activities, outdoor concerts, merchant tent sales, ski swap, brewfest, kids’ games, pumpkin painting, 5k race and a pie eating contest.

October 13 WATERVILLE VALLEY: Rally in the Valley – Show off your ride at this all-vehicle show featuring awards, music, food and a raffle. Proceeds to benefit the Merrimack Valley Hospice.

October 26 BRETTON WOODS: Wicked Woods Weekend – This weekend of witches’ cauldrons, black cats, superstition, mischievous acts and spooky tales is fun for the entire family.

October 27 LOON MOUNTAIN: Monster Mud Run – Mud, muck, and glory will push you to the limit through the 5k course on Loon’s tough terrain.
