Sunday River Resort Prepares for Winterfest Weekend Celebration
Special weekend launches this season’s 12-Hour Skiing and Riding with $5 tickets
Newry, Maine (December 8, 2011)-Sunday River Resort is gearing up to celebrate its second annual Winterfest Weekend on December 17 and 18 with fireworks, fire dancers, live music, Santa Claus, Zipline Tours, special rates on snowboard rentals, a winter-themed dinner, and lodging packages with low rates starting at $79 per person . Winterfest Weekend also marks the beginning of 12-Hour Skiing and Riding at the resort .
On Saturday evening, December 17, the celebration officially kicks off with 12-Hour Skiing and Riding at 4 p.m., with special $5 rates, and continues with visits from Sunday River’s beloved mascot, Eddy the Yeti, as well as fireside chats with Santa Claus.
There will also be an apres party at the Foggy Goggle in the South Ridge Base Lodge with live music by Bon Jovi cover band “Living on a Bad Name.”
For those looking for an adventurous fine-dining experience, dinner will be served at 2,000 ft. at the resort’s Peak Lodge accessed via the Chondola from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. Reservations are required.
Finally, fire dancers will perform slopeside at the South Ridge Base Lodge, starting at 7:30 p.m. with fireworks starting at 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Winterfest Weekend continues with World Snowboarding Day. Sunday River is celebrating by offering half-price snowboard rentals.
All weekend long, the resort will be offering Zipline Tours for $49 with the purchase of a lift ticket or $59 without, Twin Zips for only $15, and special ski and stay packages starting at $79 per person/per night, including a lift ticket and free adult clinic at Perfect Turn Ski & Snowboard School.
