Mountain Coaster, Giant Swing and Indoor Adventure Open for the Season

NORTH CONWAY, NH – Cranmore Mountain in North Conway, NH will be the place to be for family fun this Thanksgiving weekend, as their Mountain Adventure Park – featuring the mountain coaster, giant swing and indoor adventure zone – open for the season. The resort will also be hosting its annual Homecoming Event including a retired trail sign auction.
The Mountain Coaster and Giant Swing will operate Fri. Nov. 25 – Sun. Nov. 27 from 9am – 4pm. The Indoor Adventure Zone, with two bouncy houses, Spider Mountain Climb and Bungy Trampoline, opens the same dates from 10am – 4pm. Tickets are just $10 per person per ride, or $25 for 3 rides per person. A special 6-pack is available for just $49, and tickets can be used by more than one person.

Also taking place is Cranmore’s second annual Homecoming Event, welcoming back season passholders and all other friends of Cranmore, on Sat. Nov. 26th from 3-4pm in the Artist Falls Lodge, home to Cranmore Fitness and ticketing for the Coaster, Swing and Indoor Adventure Zone . The event will feature an overview by Cranmore president Ben Wilcox on the highlights of the resort’s on-going $7 million renaissance.

The Homecoming Event will also feature a special silent auction of recently retired trail signs, with proceeds going to the Jimmy Mersereau Scholarship Fund. The Fund was founded in the wake of the passing of Cranmore’s long time mountain operations director Jimmy Mersereau in Dec. 2009, and is in support of students interested in ski area operations as a career. Last year the trail sign auction raised thousands of dollars for the scholarship fund as Cranmore fans snapped up their favorite trail signs. This year’s auction includes signs for popular trails including the South Slope and Ledges.

The event is taking place at the Artist Falls Deli, now offering visitors tasty favorites including pizza, beer, wine, snacks and soda in a venue handy to the Mountain Adventure Park.

And for those looking for fit and healthy option for the holiday weekend, Cranmore Fitness will offer its annual Turkey Day Spinning classes. Guests can sign up for a 7am, 8:15am or 9:30 am class. Reservations are required as space is limited. Call 603-356-6301 for reservations. Rates are $8 for Cranmore Fitness members and $10 for other guests. The facility is open from 7am – 11am Thanksgiving Day.

The Fitness Center is the largest facility of its kind in Mt. Washington Valley and offers a host of classes and programs all weekend long, with a full cardio and weight room available. It just underwent $180,000 in renovations including $50,000 in new cardio equipment.

The Mountain Coaster opened to accolades in November 2011 .The Mountain Coaster is a year-round attraction that provides an exhilarating experience flying down the slopes of Cranmore, with views to Mount Washington and the Presidential Range. The ride features 2 person sleds that ride on stainless steel tubular rails. Each sled has its own hand brakes and the rider is in control of his or her speed at all times.

To start, riders enjoy a 1200-foot trip up the mountain in the 2-person sled. Then the real fun begins, taking people down the looping, turning track for 2400 feet down the slopes. The coaster will operate year round in nearly all weather.

The Coaster was joined by the Giant Swing in summer 2011. The Swing is a 4-seater attraction that lifts riders 40 feet up into the air, then releases them for a gravity-driven thrill. The Indoor Adventure Zone features some of the best activities from Cranmore’s summer adventure park, including bouncy houses, bungy trampolines and the Spider Climb.
The Mountain Adventure Park will be open weekends from 9am – 4pm for the coaster and swing; 10am – 4pm for the Indoor Adventure Zone.

Cranmore Mountain began snowmaking on earlier this month and will resume at every opportunity as soon as weather permits. Cranmore will publish updated projected opening date for skiing and snow tubing on its website (Cranmore.com) or by calling its snow phone – 1-800-SUN-N-SKI option 1.
