STOWE, Vermont ??” A very special and fun annual event will take place January 5 through 8 at Stowe Mountain Resort. Members of the business, agency and media communities will come together to race and raise money for three worthy charities that offer hope and comfort to children in desperate need.

The Financial Communications Society (FCS) takes center stage with continued support from AIG as the presenting sponsor. Participating teams will enjoy receptions and a race camp prior to the competition. A Torchlight Parade and Fireworks show will take place on Friday night at 7 pm, at the Midway Lodge. The main event takes place Saturday 1/7 from 10 am – 3 pm on Gondolier’s Exhibition Hill with a Dual Slalom race. So far this event has raised over $600,000 for The Hope and Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund, Downy Side, and The Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Hope and Heroes Children’s Cancer Fund of Children’s Hospital of New York Presbyterian, raises money to enhance pediatric cancer research, helps patients and their families in special need of assistance, and develops new cancer-fighting initiatives. Downey Side, founded in 1967, is a non-sectarian non-profit agency incorporated in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and Minnesota. This New York based charity is dedicated to the belief that every child deserves the right to a permanent and loving family. Downey Side plays the role of a licensed adoption agency serving to place older children that would otherwise remain homeless in loving homes. The Make-A-Wish Foundation, celebrating its 22nd year, grants the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Vermont chapter is located in South Burlington.
