Wine Tasting at Belleayre Mountain

HIGHMOUNT, New York ??” Celebrate Wine and Fine Dining on October 15, 2005 when a Wine Tasting, at the lower lodge at Belleayre Mountain, featuring well-known expert F. Paul Pacult as speaker and host is followed by a Buffet of menu offerings at the newly opened Red Rooster Restaurant and Inn, (formerly Luc’s Grill) on Route 28 in Big Indian. This is a fund-raising event to benefit the Belleayre Conservatory and its program of fabulous music, The Belleayre Music Festival, ‘where the mountains meet the stars.’

If you are a connoisseur of fine wines, you have recently installed a wine cellar in your home, purchased a wine cooler unit for your new kitchen or family room, or you just have a few favorites and know exactly where they are located in your favorite liquor store then this is the chance for you to learn how to choose wines to enjoy right now and make wise investments for the future.

The Wine Tasting begins at 5PM and will be held at the Discovery Lodge (the lower lodge) at Belleayre Mountain. Each participant will taste six wines presented by F. Paul Pacult, the founding editor and publisher of F. Paul Pacult’s Spirit Journal * The Quarterly Independent Guide to Distilled Spirits, Beers, and Wines newsletter now in its 15th year of publication. He is the author of the critically acclaimed books A Double Scotch: How Chivas Regal and The Glenlivet Became Global Icons (John Wiley & Sons, April 2005), American Still Life: The Jim Beam Story and the Making of the World’s # 1 Bourbon (John Wiley & Sons, 2003) as well as author of Kindred Spirits (Hyperion, 1997) and The Beer Essentials (Hyperion, 1997).

Mr. Pacult is the wine and spirits columnist for Sky * the Delta Air Lines magazine, a contributing editor and the spirits tasting director for Wine Enthusiast Magazine, a special projects editor for The New York Times Magazine and the judging director at the annual San Francisco World Spirits Competition. He is also honored to be the only journalist worldwide to be a life member of The Keepers of the Quaich Scotch Whisky Society, The Bourbon Hall of Fame, as well as a member of the Armagnac Company of Musketeers.

Upon the completion of the Wine Tasting guests will move on down to The Red Rooster Restaurant and Inn for a buffet of menu offerings from this brand-new restaurant under the management of local restaurateur Toni Perreta. The 10-month long renovation of this familiar eating spot along Route 28 is now a cozy, yet, elegant space providing diners with a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the menu that includes a wide range of comfort food from steaks, pasta and seafood served in the grill and dining room to an array of antipasti. Ms. Perreta has personally selected a sampling of her most favorite foods for our guests’ enjoyment for this evenings fund- raising event.

Music will be performed by Jazz pianist, Loren Daniels. Having spent over 30 years as a frequent visitor to the Catskills, Mr. Daniels hails from Bergen County, NJ, where he performs regularly in clubs in both NJ and Manhattan as a solo musician as well as with his Loren Daniels Trio. Mr. Daniels has been teaching music in the Teaneck School District for over 25 years.
