With Over 2′ Of Fresh Snow, Vail’s Back Bowls To Open for Holidays

Vail PowderWith More Than Two Feet of New Snow in the Past Week, Vail’s Legendary Back Bowls Will Be Open on Saturday in Time for the Holidays

VAIL, Colo., Dec. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — After a series of storms marched through the Rocky Mountains over the past week and dropped more than two feet of snow on Vail Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States, resort officials announced today that the skiers and snowboarders will be able to enjoy access to the resort’s legendary Back Bowls this weekend. The High Noon Express Lift (#5) will be running on Saturday to serve up the majority of Sun Up and Sun Down Bowls. With the addition of new terrain in the Back Bowls, skiers and snowboarders will have access to more than 2,500 of terrain at Vail Mountain.

“These storms could not have been timed more perfectly. With more than two feet of new snow in the past week and more snow in the forecast, the skiing and riding at Vail Mountain over the holidays should be fantastic,” said Chris Jarnot, senior vice president and chief operating officer of Vail Mountain. “We’re thrilled to be able to open Vail’s legendary Sun Up and Sun Down bowls for all of our holiday guests and are hopeful that we’ll be able to open even more terrain soon.”

Vail also will be opening the Bwana Terrain Park this Saturday, with a total of 12 snow, box and rail features for skiers and riders. In addition to the new terrain added this week, guests also can enjoy Adventure Ridge for snow tubing, kids’ snowmobiling, bungee trampolines, ski biking and more.

The 10th, Vail’s newest on-mountain table-service restaurant, is open daily for lunch in the main dining room from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday guests can enjoy apres at the bar from 3-6 p.m. and dinner service beginning at 5:30 p.m. Game Creek Restaurant and Bistro Fourteen are also now open for dinner service.
