Jay Peak Resort to Host Second Annual Tree-lighting Ceremony and Party this Friday Night

December 19, 2011 (Jay, VT)- 30 Rock is coming to Jay Peak. No, not the show made famous by Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. But the resort will be bringing the iconic address’s holiday spirit to its Ice Haus Arena when it hosts the second annual holiday tree-lighting party on December 23rd. The festivities get underway at 6:00 PM when Santa Claus begins his parade ride, eventually landing on the lawn in front of the ice arena.

“This is a great way to kick-off the holiday week,” said Jay Peak’s Director of Communications JJ Toland. “We’ll have all of the ‘grandness’ of New York City’s 30 Rockefeller Center with the upside of not having to go into a city.”

The event is loosely modeled on the tree-lighting ceremony that happens every year in New York City’s 30 Rockefeller Center.
’30 Rock Comes to Jay Peak’ as the party is known, will feature a 30-foot Blue Spruce tree placed at center ice wrapped in more than 2,000 feet of lights and more than 800 decorations. There will be holiday tunes and plenty food and drink for all.
Jay Peak’s ’30 Rock’ event will begin with Santa being pulled in a horse-drawn sleigh from the Tram Haus Lodge to the Ice Haus. He will then assume his post on the ice to listen to wishes. After Mr. Claus departs, the switch will be thrown on over 6,000 lights. Festivities and public skating around the Jay Holiday Tree will last until 9:00 PM. But the party doesn’t end on the ice.

With the opening of the new Pump House indoor waterpark, Jay Peak is offering a special tropical ticket ad-on when you purchase your 30 Rock admission. Typically a pass to the Pump House is $35, but those purchasing 30 Rock tickets will have the option of entering the park that night for only $15.

Admission to the 30 Rock Comes to Jay Peak party is $12 for the first family member and $6 for each subsequent member. Kids five and under will be admitted free of charge. The Pump House special add-on ticket is $15 for the first family member and $10 for each subsequent member. The resort is keeping the Pump House open until 10 PM the night of December 23rd so that there is plenty of time to splash after skating with Santa.

Santa will be on the ice from approximately 6:30 PM to 7:25 PM. Rides in his sleigh will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, weather permitting.

The pace of ticket sales to the ’30 Rock’ event has increased over the last several days and the resort is recommending that tickets be purchased in advance. Tickets can be bought by calling the Ice Haus at (802) 988-2750 or Krista Boulanger at (802) 327-2106 .
