Yoakam, Doobies Among Belleayre Festival’s Top Acts

Highmount, NY — Dwight Yoakam and rock icons the Doobie Brothers highlight the diverse lineup for the Belleayre Music Festival’s 22nd season.

Dwight Yoakam (http://belleayremusic.org/music-festival-concert.phpid=140) kicks things off in hard-charging fashion on Saturday, July 6. Dwight traces the roots of his stardom to country music, but offers a universal appeal that spans genres, plus he’s also widely recognized for his memorable movie roles.

The Manhattan Transfer, recognized as the world’s foremost vocal group, will perform on Saturday, July 13.

The legendary Doobie Brothers (http://belleayremusic.org/music-festival-concert.phpid=142) will be “Takin’ it to the Streets” with their hit-filled show on Saturday, July 20.

Belleayre Festival Opera presents Bizet’s “Carmen” on Satuday, July 27. The opera is traditionally among the season’s highlights.

The Catskill Mountain Jazz Series opens with three Hot Latin Nights. On Thursday, Aug. 1, the the Sammy Figueroa Latin Dance Explosion kicks things off in the Jazz Club. The phenonmenal Pedrito Martinez Havana Quartet will light up the Jazz Club on Friday, Aug. 2.

The series moves to the Main Stage on Saturday, Aug. 3 with what promises to be an inspired performance by the Paquito D’Rivera and the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band.

The Catskill Mountain Jazz Series wraps up with “Two Piano Masters.” Keyboard wizard Bill Charlap will play the Jazz Club with his trio on Friday, Aug. 9. Kenny Barron’s 70th Birthday Celebration marked in high-energy style on Saturday, Aug. 10 with Kenny Barron’s All-Star Quintet. A stellar lineup will present a show guaranteed to among the season’s highlights.

Ssong-and-dance legend Ben Vereen brings Broadway to Belleayre on Saturday, Aug. 17.

Laughter takes center stage when the festival presents Comedy in the Catskills II. Harrison Greenbaum, a rising star, will present his full routine in the Comedy Club on Friday, Aug. 23. Veteran funny woman Rita Rudner headlines on the Main Stage on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The season closes in theatrical rock style when the Belleayre Festival Orchestra presents The Music of Pink Floyd on Saturday, Aug. 31. This year marks the 40th anniversary of “Dark Side of the Moon,” one of the most enduring albums of all time. The show will feature a full rock band by Windborne Music in addition to the orchestra. Brent Havens, who guided last year’s Led Zeppelin tribute, will conduct the show that will also feature many other Pink Floyd hits.
