JAY, Vermont ??” Most everyone who heard about the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit Asia at the end of December wanted to do something to help the hundreds of thousands of victims of the disaster. The Jay Peak community is no exception. Jay Peak will be hosting a Texas Hold’em tournament on Sunday, January 30th and all proceeds (post expenses) will be donated to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Program.

“When you work in the ski resort industry, it’s easy to feel insulated”, said Steve Wright, Director of Marketing and Sales at Jay Peak. “We’re hoping to help continue the process of raising awareness around the tragedy in South Asia.”

The event will also be sponsored by Long Trail Brewery, who will be donating refreshments for the night of the event. Free snacks, sandwiches and light refreshments will be served and Long Trail Jay Peak Tram Ale will be on tap for $1 US a draft.

The tournament will be held on Sunday, January 30th. Registration will start at 3:30pm and the tournament will begin at 4:00pm. Maximum number of players is limited to 100 and the initial buy-in will be $100 US. Payouts will be $2000 US for first place, $1000 US for second, $500 US for third, and $200 US each for fourth through tenth place.

Jay Peak expects the event to fill up quickly and encourages anyone who wants to play to call 802-988-2611 or stop by Jay Peak Customer Service (Tramside) to reserve a spot. Sign ups on the day of the event will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
