Summer Fun Begins at Loon June 23

Lincoln, NH, June 14, 2012: Loon Mountain Resort, featuring a new Aerial Forest Adventure Park, Segway® tours, zipline adventure, New Hampshire’s longest scenic gondola skyride and the affordable Adventure Pass, kicks off the summer season on June 23.

New this summer, Loon will offer an Aerial Forest Adventure Park where guests can challenge themselves by maneuvering from platform to platform in the trees via ziplines, bridges, cables and other challenges. The new park is slated to open on July 13 and will feature five levels of difficulty, each one requiring more balance and agility. Open to adults and children 7 and over, the Aerial Forest Adventure Park will operate daily, 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. from July 13 through Labor Day, and weekends through Columbus Day from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at Loon’s Adventure Center and cost $49 for adults 13 and over and $39 for juniors ages 7-12.

Loon will offer a new off-road, cross-country Segway® PT tour in addition to the historic tour of Lincoln that debuted last summer. A Segway is a self-balancing two-wheeled personal transport device that is fun and easy to ride. Participants will get an orientation on how to ride a Segway and then they can choose from the historic town tour or cross country tour. The orientation and tour take approximately three hours and cost $69.

New Hampshire’s longest scenic Gondola Skyride, with access to the 2,750’ Loon Peak and Summit Adventures, will be open daily from June 23 through October 14. In addition to spectacular White Mountain views, the summit offers glacial caves to explore, where kids can hunt for ‘Lost Loon Gold’ and take home their own gold token. Treasure maps are available inside Loon Mountain Sports Retail & Gift Shop, where Skyride tickets are purchased. An interpretive self-guided nature walk, observation tower, and mountaintop playground round out the family fun available at the summit. The Summit Café offers lunch, refreshments and a Sunday omelet bar (July & August) — all with a scenic backdrop. Plus, families can visit with local artisans as they practice their crafts.

Located at the base of the mountain, the Loon Mountain Adventure Center offers fun for adults and kids alike, including the popular zipline where guests can soar over the Pemigewasset River and back. The adrenaline rush continues on Loon’s four-person bungee trampoline, where up to four people at once can jump, bounce and flip up to 25 feet in the air. An outdoor climbing wall and mountain bike rentals and tours are also available. The Adventure Center is open daily June 23 through September 3, and weekends through October 8. The Snack Shack, located at the Adventure Center, will be open daily from 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. and the Whistle Stop Café, located near the Gondola base, will be open from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

The best and most economical way to discover all that Loon has to offer in the summer and fall is by purchasing the Adventure Pass, which delivers a whole day of family fun at an affordable price. Priced at just $39 for guests 13 and over and $29 for kids age 6-12, the Adventure Pass includes a round trip on the zipline, a two-hour mountain bike rental and unlimited bungee trampoline, climbing wall, and Gondola skyrides. The new Super Adventure Pass, which costs $69 for guests 13 and over and $49 for kids age 7-12, includes everything in the Adventure Pass, plus a session in the new Aerial Forest Adventure Park. The Super Adventure Pass will be available when the new Aerial Forest Adventure Park opens July 13.

Loon is also known for its variety of special summer and fall events, and this summer will not disappoint. This year, in addition to annual family-favorite events like the Hot Dog Festival, Oktoberfest and popular NH Highland Games, and the second annual Monster Mud Run in October, several new events make their debut: Family Fun Day in the White Mountains and the Loon Lawn Game Classic.
