Snowmaking Begins at Stratton Mountain – Opening Details and Events Outlined
STRATTON MOUNTAIN, Vermont – Snowguns are blasting as Stratton marks the first official day of the snowmaking, and winter, season on Monday, November 5.
Stratton’s snowmakers fired up the snowmaking system Sunday evening to take advantage of the first good opportunity. More than 160 snowguns are trained on the Upper Mountain on six trails, and snowmakers are expecting to expand to new trails and add up to 100 more guns through the day on Monday.
This window of cold, dry air is forecasted to continue through the day on Tuesday, giving Stratton’s resident snow wizards a good shot at making a first layer of snow.
With this great news, opening day plans are coming into focus. Stratton Mountain plans to open November 21, amidst a 5-day celebration of the beginning of winter. With first tracks under our skiers’ and riders’ boots, Stratton Mountain will be busy with winter events and traditions from November 21 – 25.
