RENSSELAER, New York — Disabled Sports USA, a national sport partner with the Wounded Warrior Project, recently granted $7,000 to STRIDE Adaptive Sports Wounded Warrior Winter Weekend. The non-profit organization will be hosting fifteen wounded local war heroes and their families for a weekend of learning to ski and snowboard March 5-7, 2010. The program supports local OIF and OEF service members who have sustained permanent physical injuries in conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

STRIDE Adaptive Sports is collecting sport accessories items such as jackets, goggles, gloves, helmets, and socks to help outfit our guests and their families while they learn new rehabilitative sport skills at nearby Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort. Item donations can be dropped off at our office in North Greenbush or mailed to 476 North Greenbush Road, Rensselaer, NY 12144.

Costs for providing this incredibly valuable and therapeutic event for local war heroes will cost the organization in excess of $30,000. Donations to assist with the expenses for this event are gratefully accepted by mailing your tax deductible contribution to: STRIDE PO Box 778, Rensselaer, NY 12144. More information on this event as well as other STRIDE events can be located on the web at: www.stride.org
